Do you still have leftover holiday candy? Did you buy some extra candy at after-Christmas sales? I like to repurpose the red and green candies. These can easily be used for Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day that are coming up in the next two months.
It may seem tedious, but it’s actually quick and easy to sort these candies into red and green piles.
Once candies are sorted, you are ready for the upcoming holidays. I like to keep a candy dish out at different holidays. The candy kisses can easily be sorted into red and green. The silver ones can go with both. Sorting can be done with the mini chocolate varieties as well. Now you have red candies for Valentine’s Day and green candy for St. Patrick’s Day.
For Valentine’s Day and St. Patrick’s Day you can use the candies for baking. I like to make M&M Cookies. You can use your favorite chocolate chip recipe. Using two bags of Christmas M&Ms, open and sort them into 2 colors. Make recipe dough then add M&Ms instead of chocolate chips, keeping some to place on top of the cookies. Bake as directed.
You can put candies into favor bags to add to gifts or treats.
Let me know how you use repurpose your holiday candy. Do you just put in the freezer and eat at your leisure?
