My brief summary and thoughts:
I found that this was a beautiful and powerful book. It took a little effort for me to get into, because it began with concentration on me and my life. I wanted to concentrate on my children.
I learned that I can't fix everything. My job is to pray. God's job is to answer. I learned I needed wisdom to pray for my children's needs. I still needed forgiveness for my mistakes in raising my children.
One specific part of the book that left an impression on me was, "We must not only politely ask God for an outpouring of His Spirit on our adult children, we must get on our knees and cry out for it from the depths of our being." I began to do this on my knees.
A surprising fact that was introduced in this book was that "no matter how well or how poorly we were raised, or how seemingly perfect or imperfect our life experiences have been, we all have things from which we need to be set free." This is true for my children as well.
This book has completely changed my outlook and approach to prayer. I thought I knew how to pray, but I have not been praying with all the "power" I could be. My children each have specific needs and I need to pray on my knees for these needs specifically, individually and intentionally.
