If you are a homeschooling mom, you do projects with your children all the time. If your children attend a school, being a room mom or volunteering in the classroom is a great way to spend time with your children and their friends. The bonus is that they love it when their mom comes in.
When my first child was in kindergarten, I had a toddler and was expecting our third child. It never occurred to me to volunteer. At the class Thanksgiving dinner where the parents were invited, I was so surprised at the moms who volunteered. They all had toddlers in tow. One even had a backpack for her baby while she was in the serving line. This was a child friendly school. I never hesitated after that. I volunteered to drive and be room mom. I would even drive for plays or to the symphony and would sit with a toddler in my lap for the performance.
With the holidays approaching, there are many things going on in the classroom. See how you can help.
Even though it has been a while since I was a room mom, these pictures are from a 4th Grade Christmas Party that I helped with.
One mom brought in a wreath project while I was preparing cookies that I baked to be iced and decorated.
Time spent with your children is never wasted. Spend time with them!
