With Thanksgiving Day being over, our focus now shifts to Christmas. Black Friday sales has shoppers out in full force. The challenge now is to not forget about Thanksgiving and be thankful all year and to be praying thanks.
Because I have been in Moms in Prayer (formerly Moms in Touch) for so many years, I have become accustomed to their prayer format. Their 4 steps of prayer are:
I love this format because we so often just jump to the intercession part and not pray anything else. We ask ask ask for what our needs are.
Applying this format on a daily basis brings depth to your prayer life. Praise is a time to worship God for who he is, focusing on a single attribute. Praise music is a beautiful way to worship. Confession turns our eyes inward, letting God show us our sins, asking forgiveness, and be freed from burdens. Thanksgiving not only helps us to remember our blessings, but recall how God has answered our prayers in the past and how he uses trials for growth. I have learned to be thankful for trials. After these 3 steps, then we are open to intercessory prayer. We can pray not only for our own needs, but focus on the needs of our husband, children and others.
Let me know how you are praying thanks.
