Little Dresses for Africa

My daughter knows how to sew and has done a quilt project for years with varying charities. Last year she organized a quilt day where all the quilts made went to Life Network. This year she wanted to do something a little closer to her heart. She wanted to make little dresses for girls in Africa. She organized a day at her school after school was out for the summer.

I was so surprised that so many people came. Some knew how to sew and many had never sewn before at all. It was so heart warming to see them surrender their dresses for a cause when it was the first garment they had ever made. Anxious to make more dresses, we planned another day right before school starts. Many took instructions home to make more on their own.

I wanted to share my instructions with you so that you can also plan to make these dresses with your children. This is such a good way for them to learn a skill and use it for the benefit of others. These dresses could be made on your own, with your neighborhood or with your church or school.

Even the Janome Sew Mini was able to handle this sewing job.
